Hey ya’ll. There is a lot of update on so bear with me. As a lot of you know, I was traveling to Cleveland Clinic to have my surgeries, and used to rave about how wonderful they were. Well over the last year, they slowly became less than wonderful. (more details about this on my other blog). Long story short, for my last and hopefully final surgery, I am switching surgeons and clinics. I was so scared to change especially this far in, but I did my research, consulted my jpouch friends and found someone that isn’t willing to give me extra unnecessary surgeries (like Cleveland).

Soon to be "ex bag lady"

I want you urge you all to take control and be your own advocate. Just because our doctors are “in charge” of our medical cases, doesn’t mean they always know best. Get second opinions the whole duration of surgeries if you’d like, and if your surgeon stops working for you, find someone who will. Switching is scary, but I really think I’m making a great choice. I guess we’ll see. Which bring me to this….

10 DAYS!! This has been 15 months in the making! I have had complications, extra surgeries, stoma problems, blah balh balhla…but in 10 days, I shall be pooping out of my butt like the rest of the world!!

So to all my jpouch people: I’m trying to make a list of the essentials for post op. I know there is some butt cream or something, and depends pads? I have no clue. What are the “must haves” for after your butt is hooked up again?

Thanks to Mark and Megan for this site..it has helped me a lot through this journey…and I’m sure it will also through the next chapter.

Hey all,
Its been about 6 weeks since my surgery…and this one…of course didn’t work out 100% awesome like I wanted it to. The surgery went ok, I got my pouch but he didn’t do a takedown. Also the stoma separated, and retracted, my vagina got tilted, I got depressed, and all sorts of other fun adventures.

I’ve done a lot of updating since then on my other blog, and I don’t want to clog up this blog space with all of that info. So…I’m alive. New surgery (and hopefully final) is June 7th.

I’ve been really anticipating this final surgery but not in a good way. I’m terrified of it. So far NOTHING has gone right, and I’m petrified that my jpouch will not work, or fail, explode or spontaneously combust or something. Luck is just something that isn’t on my side…so I’m going into this final step with nothing but doubt. Uplifting, eh?!

On the bright side I’ve lost almost 60 lbs from this time last year. No steroids after surgery and a lot of hard word can go far! I just started taking vitamins last week, but other than that, I’m not on any medication. NONE. So…thats a perk so far for the surgery!

I hope you are all well.

Ok I’m not dying its a tad dramatic but I’m not recovery very gracefully. First of all, you should go read about my disaster of a surgery #2. Long story short….I didn’t get it, what I did get was the 6-8 weeks of recovery. Awesome. Also what i have gotten in the last day is CRAZY back pain, and also narcotics withdrawal. Yea. So lets talk about that. I seriously felt like I was in the Basket Ball Diaries last night. Ok that was dramatic. But I was a mess of excessive burning up and freezing cold at the same time. How is that even possible. I had uncontrollable arm spasms, and crazy insomnia. Dude I even chugged some cough syrup to try to catch some Zzzs but it didn’t happen. Withdrawal trumps NyQuil? I have been chowin down my pain pills like woa because this one has been super sucky in the pain department. Normally as the pain subsides I taper my own pain pills, this time all of a sudden yesterday morning I work up and it just stopped. Like amazing. So like a moron, I didn’t think and just went on with my day….no pills. Jesus did I pay for it. Last night was easily one of the worse nights of my life…Has anyone else done this? Or am I the only sucky drug addict?

For everyone out there who doesn’t have an ostomy (and even those who have a new one), I put in what I liked and didn’t like about the bags I tried. And I tried A LOT. There are so many different kinds, so I would give the entry a good read through, but I’m warning you..its REALLY long. However, there is a lot of good info in there. There are a few more other bags I have, that I did not review so feel free to send any questions on. Happy Bagging!

I’ve made a new update on my blog, Blood Poop and Tears, about my second surgery out of three, and how I’m struggling to get healthy enough for it even to happen. Ugh. Being fat is stupid.

Here’s a preview.

“So guess who has set a date for surgery #2? Yea, its me. Shabam! I was so excited I almost crapped my bag. This is far more exciting than setting a wedding date…though faaar more terrifying. You think committing yourself to someone for the rest of your life is terrifying…try letting someone cut you open and mess with your poop chute.

So while this new surgery date is awesomely excitingly rad…its also SUPER depressing. The reality has set in that I’m wicked fat.”

Check out the rest, and I’m going to do another post here shortly with some poop bag reviews. I’ve tried a lot and have some good stuff to share. Thanks!
