I’ve been a vegetarian all my life and I got UC when I stopped smoking so this certainly doesn’t apply to me but there is a def link to the ‘smoking thing and UC’ for sure.

3 years after I quit smoking, at age 52, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. A mere 13 days later my colon perforated. Talk about schock!

A mere 3 weeks after quitting smoking at 37, I got ulcerative colitis. The benefits of quitting smoking vastly outweigh the UC diagnosis. I have now been on Imuran for 8 years and haven’t even had one flare. I drink, eat anything I want.
