Most people on the web have had two step procedures, and I think their recovery is different. After having an ileostomy for over four months, I had my procedure done April 19, almost six weeks ago. Like you, I had similar issues post surgery. It took much longer than they thought for my bowels to "wake up." I spent three weeks in the hospital. Now I still struggle with the urgency, and am eager to return to normal activities. Thanks for sharing your story! It gives me some more faith. Since being home however and expanding my diet i have put on about 5 pouds. I am trying to expand my diet to include more fruits and veggies but it is really trial and error at this point.
