Thanks for the nice comments, Megan & Casey.

Megan, I think that's a good point about the balance between dealing with UC and basically the rest of your life. Something to think more about....

Congratulations Janelle! My surgery was post-poned 7 mo because they thought I had crohns and colitis, so i can relate. I never really understood how you could have both diseases. they actually want to scope me around the time of your takedown to convince themselves again. i just nod at this point. lol good luck!! everything will all work out for the best.

What WONDERFUL news! That is so great to hear that you have the the comfort of knowing that you are just UC. I know Mark went through a quick scare with it maybe being CD and we had to ponder the idea of a permanent ileo - but like you said it would be okay but having the jpouch does offer some great freedoms.

Also, I love that you said you are postponing surgery to deal with your personal/professional deadlines. I think that is a great point that people in your situation have the control to schedule the surgery and/or live with their situation until it fits their life. I know Mark and I decided to live 9 months with his nasty UC after he made the surgery decision b/c we needed his downtime to fit our work schedules and life.

Good luck on your diss proposal- I found my proposal meeting was challenging but it was also really helpful in preparing a good study. In november I passed my diss defense so now I'm done - it was quite a journey and I can't imagine doing it with your health issues. Hang in there because it is worth it!
